We went on another fun Spring Break outing with some friends to Fort Washington, Maryland. For decades it was the only Fort protecting Washington, DC. It was built in the early 1800's and sits right in the Potomac River. From the Fort we could see George Washington's home- Mount Vernon, the Washington Monument in the distance and Alexandria, VA. Plus, we were so close to the airplanes flying in and out of Reagan National and the helicopters coming and going from the military bases nearby, C4 thought he was in Heaven watching them all! It was a beautiful day. We pretty much had the place to ourselves and enjoyed flying kites inside the fort, a picnic lunch and skipping rocks on the river. It was fabulous! We feel really lucky to live in an area rich in our nation's history and so many great places to visit!!
