Destination Wedding: Lexington, NC

J and I went to North Carolina for a wedding over Memorial Day weekend, not quite a Caribbean wedding but great nonetheless! One of J's colleagues asked him to be a groomsman and it was a fun little get away for us! We felt quite spoiled actually! The wedding was in Lexington, NC which is BBQ heaven! To represent this BBQ mecca the city had its 5th annual "Pigs in the City" display. There are 20 whimsically decorated fiberglass pigs throughout the "uptown" area of the city. These are a few of them!

The rehearsal dinner and our hotel were actually in Winston-Salem, in the old historic district. We ate dinner at the Salem Tavern Inn, outside under the wisteria. The food was delicious and the company was great! Old Salem is a restored 1766 Moravian village with museums, buildings and shops to tour.

Our hotel was the Brookstown Inn just around the corner from Old Salem. The Inn was built in 1837 as a textile mill and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Our room had 2 levels with a living area on the bottom and the bedroom and bath above. It was beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice.

We had so much fun we would like to take the kids back someday!!

The Happy Couple!!
